South Yorkshire & Humber local authorities are this month launching their first annual Built In Quality Awards, to take place on Thursday 6th March, 2008 at Tankersley Manor Hotel Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
The awards are to recognise building excellence throughout the regions through 2006/2007.
Builders and developers undertaking projects in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, North Lincolnshire, Hull and Barnsley are all eligible to take part in this highly respected, prestigious, Building Control Awards Scheme.
These awards follow the success of other regional awards and the National Built in Quality Awards: that have been running for the past few years. South Yorkshire & Humber local authority Building Control departments agreed the time was right to organise an event of their own to recognise the high standards of construction throughout the region. With a number of sports stadiums and commercial projects being built as well as the increased level of domestic housing, the competition will be hard fought.
This highly publicised event has already generated sponsorship from a number of local firms with NHER National Energy Centre, Sandtoft Tiles and IHS BSI British Standards already signed up for sponsorship of individual award categories.
A local authority Building Control spokesperson commented “We are extremely excited about the event in March. These awards are the envy of the construction industry and we recognise the importance of showcasing the tremendous work achieved in the area through an event such as this. We are confident that this will be a hugely successful event and become a much anticipated annual occasion”
Building projects ranging from large sports arenas to small extensions all have the potential to receive an award. Winners will also go through for selections to the national finals in London.
